San Francisco is one foodie town. It’s easy to think that foodies, or people who love to come to San Francisco to eat, usually take their meals at the expensive, hip and trendy eateries that the city is so famous for. But local foodies know better. Sometimes the cheap eats are the best eats, and there is nothing better or cheaper to eat in San Francisco than tacos – or anything else on the menu at one of the hundred or so taquerias that dot the urban landscape.

Check out the artist-at-large taqueria listing.

So, if you’ve been, or live, in San Francisco, tell us which one is your favorite taqueria and why you love it so!

How do you pick your favorite taqueria?

Everyone I know who is serious about Mexican food in SF likes a different place for a different specialty. But when I want a taco I usually go to Taqueria San Jose (Mission between 24th & 25th.) They do a foursome of tacos dorados – hard tacos, which I prefer. You can mix and match the flavors. Their fish tacos are always good. But my favorite is the chorizo taco. Here the chorizo flavor is very redolent of cloves, which I always miss when I go somewhere else. I also hear people raving about their carne asada tacos ‘al pastor’ and I intend to try one next time.
