Ten Tips for Traveling the Big Sur Coast!
Traveling down (or up as the case may be) the Big Sur Coast should be easy and fun and beautiful. Here are some tips that will make your drive and stay a little smoother:
Deetjen’s Big Sur Inn
Everyone that I had met in Big Sur said that I must go to Deetjen’s for breakfast before I leave the area. My problem was that the restaurant closed at about the time I was just beginning to think about food for the day. That is to say, Noon.
Ripplewood Cafe
When I questioned Linda as to where I should go for lunch, she didn’t hesitate at suggesting the Ripplewood Cafe, on the other side of the gas station. So, I put my raincoat back on, grabbed my bag and set off to walk the 50 ft. to the restaurant.
Henry Miller Library
The Henry Miller Library is a small, intimate place, cached under redwood trees and sunlight. A place that celebrates and archives the life of this Great American Writer and his friends, and documents living life in Big Sur.
Conversations with Henry Miller’s Ghost
I have traveled this road many times in my life, but I have never stayed more than one night anywhere on the 60-odd mile stretch of road that is called Big Sur.
